What are the classes of the Arthropods? What are their differences?

 

 

Be able to identify the parts of an insect.

 

 

Describe the different mouthparts and the types of injuries they cause.

 

 

Describe the 2 different lifecycles of insects.

 

 

Know examples of insects with complete and incomplete (simple) metamorphosis.

 

 

What are mites? What are some examples of mites that cause tree injury?

 

 

Know the Host plants, damage & diagnosis, biology, and control for 2 or 3 insect or mite pests in each of the injury categories:

Leaf distortion & discoloration

 

Producers of honeydew, spittle, wax

 

Producers of bumps, swellings

 

Defoliators

 

Leaf miners

 

Twig, leader, limb, trunk feeders

 

Disease transmitters
