Beginnings-- About TEACH News and Notes DSLCC EDU students and TEACH |
If you are interested in an
exciting path in to a teaching career, |
||
In 2007, four DSLCC students joined forces to establish an EDU organization for students on campus who were interested in becoming teachers. Their vision was clear: the group needed to function as a resource for the many choices and opportunities EDU students have in their path toward that ultimate teacher licensure. TEACH is a result of that vision. Welcome!! TEACH meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, with room and time being determined at the beginning of Fall semester each year. Any student interested in Education as a Career is encouraged to attend. Currently, we meet on that day at 4 pm in Room 385, Scott Hall. EDU students at DSLCC are also registered on our Bb site for this organization. If you wish to receive information from notices and for links posted on this site, please email Tondalaya VanLear or call at 540-863-2854 for more information. Current Happenings: DSLCC Education Foundation Bridges Internship--Kelsey Meyer, a rising EDU graduate, was awarded the Bridges Scholarship/Internship for the 2011 spring semester at DSLCC. Kelsey is a resident of Clifton Forge and plans to attend Hollins University to pursue a bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies and licensure for elementary education. She is completing her internship with Mrs. Lee Ann Gray, speech pathologist in the Alleghany County Public Schools. This EDU internship is the first of its kind for our program. Kudos for Kelsey and many thanks to both the DSLCC Education Foundation and the Alleghany County Public School system, specifically Mrs. Lee Ann Gray, for giving this opportunity to a DSLCC EDU student to be in the heart of education!
