Spring 2005
Week 15: April 25 through May 3, 2005
Readings:
Keep your eyes on Chpt. 12, focusing on the process of writing a clearly stated and supported proposal and look at Chpt. 19--specifically pages 596-612.
Journals:
You're done with this part of class....yeah, yeah....you're welcome.
Other Assignments:
Résumé and Cover Letter: We will be looking at various posted résumés as well as hard copy examples in class. Your resume and sample cover letter will be part of your final portfolio.
Proposal Project (Revised):
You're in Step #2 and #3:
2) Using the guidelines in our text (pg. 356+), develop a draft of your proposal and then meet as a group to share that draft and generate response/reaction from each other. Consider this proposal an unsolicited, informal one that will include the standard sections: an introduction; problem definition; proposed solution and plan; budget; and conclusion; or, if you've chosen the cover letter, following the section guides in handout on how to organize your cover letter. Your draft should include each section. Submit a revised draft via Digital Drop by 4/20/05 (9 pm).
3) After you receive your revised draft with comments, revamp your proposal and resubmit the final version by 4/29/05 (9 pm).
Remember--focus on audience, purpose, and clear detail.
**Be organizing your physical portfolio. In it you should have all of the process/draft work you've done for the assignments throughout the semester, along with the a final copy (print offs of any files returned to you via digital drop should be included). I will have your electronic portfolio, but you will also submit this physical portfolio on the last day of class (5/3/05).
Due Dates:
**4/20/05: Revised Proposal Draft (D. Drop by 9 pm)
4/29/05: Final Proposal (D. Drop by 9 pm)
5/3/05: Final Resume with cover letter (directed to that specific job you found) AND your Final Portfolio
5/9/05: Final Exam (8:15 am to 10:15 am)
